Skyrim Dawnguard *Warning Spoilers!*

Journal Entry: Wed Jun 6, 2012, 3:28 AM

AGAIN, I WARN YOU, SPOILERS AHEAD.

Some highlights of Dawnguard:

SYNOPSIS: The story of Dawnguard involves the return of a vampire lord named Harkon, who seeks to put a stop to his greatest enemy: the sun. Harkon intend to use the untold power in the ancient Elder Scrolls to accomplish his goal, while an order of vampire hunters (the titular Dawnguard) hopes to stop him. The conflict puts players in a position to choose sides; fighting alongside the Dawnguard to defeat Harkon is one option, but you can also join forces with the undead and expand your own vampiric powers. Like the civil war quests in the base game, your choice changes the quests you undertake. "We present players with both sides of the storyline pretty early in the DLC," says lead artist Matt Carofano. "There is a lot of unique content depending on which side you choose."

Some Highlights:

A castle. Just a few weeks ago I was thinking how cool it would be for the Dragonborn to own his own castle.

1.)  IN DAWNGUARD YOU CAN OWN A CASTLE. If... IF you side with the vampires. Otherwise, you can live in Fort Dawnguard
and use it as your base of operations for vampire killin'.

2.)  YES, you can become a Vampire Lord. NO you cannot be a werewolf at the same time.

3.)  Werewolves and Vampire Lords will now have their own skill trees in the level up menu!

4.)  Mounted combat.

5.)  Crossbows. Can stagger an opponent but are slow to reload.

6.)  NEW MONSTERS include; Deathhounds, gargoyles and armored trolls... Yes. You read that right... ARMORED trolls...
Because the trolls weren't tough enough already...

7.)  DRAGONS WILL BE LEVELED UP. Fighting dragons will be more difficult somehow, but details are still sketchy on this...

8.)  You can return to the PLANES OF OBLIVION in Dawnguard. (Anyone else think this is AWESOME!?)

9.)  A new character in the Ratway can alter your appearance. Your race and gender stay the same however.
(Does anyone else think this sounds strange?)

10.)  Dawnguard isn't meant for low level players... Level up first.

11.)  New shouts include 'Soul Tear'. Tears the soul from an enemy and can raise him to fight for you.

Anyone else excited about these new additions?! :iconexcitedplz:

RELEASE DATE INFO FOR THE XBOX360:

Following an E3 showing, game director Todd Howard said (via Joystiq): "Tentatively, it's coming on June 26." (JUNE 26!!!)
That's assuming there are no unforeseen problems, he added. Bethesda is running a Dawnguard beta to iron out any potential issues.

Dawnguard will be available to download for 1600 MS Points (£13.71). The first two DLC packs for Bethesda's sprawling RPG will be exclusive to Xbox 360 for 30 days from release.

What would be the recommended level to play Dawnguard at? 30? 40? Higher?

I'm not sure... Cevenor is over level 50 now so he should do fine. I'm guessing anything above 30 would be good though.
(Just a guess...)

Do you have interest in TES online? ^^ I watched one video [link] and I'm very impressed! o.o ( I don`t like armor but nature is perfect!) What do you think about it?

I'm actually annoyed that TES is going online as I swore off all online games years ago due to the
amount of immature pervs looking to either hook up or just cause chaos on those things. I like my gaming experience to be private and for
all the NPC's to actually be in-character.

Yet, I don't want to miss out on any elder scrolls games. I'm too involved with the lore. I've played since Morrowind and I don't want to miss out
on anything!

Perhaps I'm wrong and online games are better now. Let me know...

When i saw the trailer on youtube, i was just like: "oh ok. let me get back to modding."
What's wrong with me? I just don't seem to care about the expantion at all. I'm happy for Molag Ball of course, but i don't want dawnguard, yet i don't not want it.
I do like the ratway guy though, the warpaint(huge hand print) on Lluti(battle mage) makes it look like he just had a meal or was slapped real hard, and the mounted combat, tired of getting off my horse to fight.

I like having crossbows back too. Now we just need spears...
Loving the tougher dragons bit, i can easily kill an ancient by now, at least with Lluthren and the full mage guy i have(I swear, the impact perk is cheating).
I hope i can just buy the frikkin thing in a game store, don't like them MS Points... has no XBlive

Actually i was hoping on an expantion on either the main or civil war questline too. They were both too short for me and if they don't do the moot, at least let us kill more thalmor or even let us take highrock or morrowind.
I seriously have nothing to do in terms of questlines anymore, i'm just an over-powered dark elf jerk! I have all shouts, it's terrible!
I feel like my character in oblivion already, all i do there is kill random people and see how long it takes for all the guards to die.
(lucien would love to join me with that, wouldn't he?)

I want it. But then I can't do mods. I have no idea how you do those... I'm guessing
you have to be a programmer?

Don't think you have to be a programmer on PC, the creation kit makes things so much easier.

Sounds a very stupid story. Yes, when you're a vampire lord hanging in his castle you think, what can I destroy, who's my enemy! The Dawnguard? I know, the sun! Even though the vampires in skyirm ar'nt that bothered by the sun. And destroying the sun will stop farming, stopping the people they feed on. Then they will have only falmer and underground beings left.

Basically it's putting in stuff they were too stupid to put in the first place. So big fragging deal.

And, of course, they had to force the most disgusting area in the game into it. Were shall the appearance mage/whatever be? Windhelm? Whiteun? Markarth? Dawnstar? Morthal? Nah, they're too normal, nice and smell normal. Let's put it in A SEWER in the most disgusting, degenerate, obscene and rigged city in the entire game!
It's not enough to force the freaking TG on players in ridiculous amounts. Now, they have to go to shitsville to change their look. Maybe we can force the TG on them even more in the process of wanting to get their look changed! They'll probabely try to force people to join the TG to get to the look changer.

Whatever, I'm not wasting my money on it anyway. Bethesda are morons who don't deserve our money.

Haha! Yes I can't wait.

I'm usually not that much into DLC's but this I'm certainly checking out. I also hate Vampires and especially hated playing as them in Skyrim because they kind of sucked for me, but I might give this Vampire Lord a chance, it looks awesome.

Also combat on Horseback? Fuck yeah! Now me and Shadowmere won't be stuck doing nothing while fighting wolves.

Oh my divines that sounds awesome! :dummy: I think the dragons thing is probably due to complaints that at higher levels dragons are easy to take down so they are taking that into account. Skill trees for werewolves and vampires will be epic! i wonder if they make vampires any better in this because in the normal game werewolves just seem better to me. :\

One complaint I have is that all the werewolves look the same... It'd be great if they fixed that.

I, for one, would think it'd be awesome if the Dragonborn's werewolf looked different based on what race he is and what
color of hair he has.

Example: a Falmor werewolf could be silver-furred with golden eyes. A Dunmer werewolf could be gray furred with red eyes...
so many possibilities...

i'd love to quote maiq senior in this one, "why would someone want to fight on a horse, it's a fast way to ruin a perfectly good horse, not to say, a perfect good meal"
but my fave is the owner of imperial city stables, the nine bless her soul if you playing skyrim "we used to sell horses, but they are gone, our horses, all gone, big mistery -burp-"
also, fighting on horseback is a pain in the,,, you know, try to aim at the speed a horse runs normally, you will be wasting ammo (if you played ocarina of time/majora's mask you get the general idea), and i doubt swinging a weapon on horseback is horsefriendly, back to the planes of oblivion? hell-O 85 shield armor & reflect sorcery jewelry
