Elder Scrolls Online Review

Journal Entry: Wed Feb 26, 2014, 7:35 PM

Hey everyone,

Now that the NDA has been officially lifted, I can finally share some screens of my Dunmer's adventures in Tamriel, along with my thoughts on the gameplay/storyline and etc ... I am not a professional game reviewer (obviously) so I'll keep this short and then just post some fanart later to really express my love for ESO.

First of all, I am completely addicted to this game. The environments are gorgeous and detailed and there is plenty of open world exploration/main quests/side quests/interesting NPC's and everything else I love about the Elder Scrolls. I am not an MMO player, but, strangely enough, I found the PVP side of this game to be just as addictive, if not moreso. Taking Keeps and resources in Cyrodiil is a whole lot of fun, especially when you have a large group to join up with. There is a good variety of siege weapons you can buy and, also, there are certain tactics you can use with each to take a Keep or resource (farm, mine or lumbermill) successfully.

Anyways, here are some of my favorite screenshots:

A Khajiit camp in Kenarthi's Roost:

One of my favorite NPC's so far! Razum-dar!

Suffice to say, I cannot wait till ESO goes live! Also, there is a ESO beta test this weekend and many are being invited! Please check your emails and, if you didn't sign up for the beta, everyone is getting a free beta key to hand out for a friend (so ask around if you don't have one)! :D

I found the game pretty enjoyable too. I played the game with my gf and we both bought our own copies of the game and are going to play when it's released. And the pvp was just glorious.

Some of my graphic settings are lowered so I can play the game better.  Even then, I think the graphics in ESO are incredible for an online game.

Nice to hear, even though I'm so deeply involved in Assassin's Creed right now I can't imagine starting something new! Have fun!

I would love to play this game (where my ability in realistic siege and medieval warfare would have use), but the price tag and the addictive nature of MMO is too great for me.

On an unrelated note, I'm already level 50 with my mainstream Nord (at around 200 hours, no less!)

I got an email with invitation to the beta testing, so I'll see if I manage to get to play more than one hour. Hopefully
the game wont throw me out every ten minutes so I have to redo everything. But would be fun to explore some more with
my Khajit.
Sadly I don't think I'll buy the game at release, and wait and see if it get's cheaper. Not my kind of payment plan for a game XD
At least not when I have so little time to actually play it.

I am really happy that you are having such a wonderful time in ESO! :boogie:

I hope I will be able to afford it in a couple of years when I graduate and get a stable job. ^^

You are welcome!
I found this quite encouraging, actually.

I am not into MMOs myself, because the idea of losing a battle to some fantasy critter in front of a bunch of judgmental pro gamers makes me shrivel up and crawl under a rock. But since you are not a MMO person and still enjoyed the game, this gives me serious motivation to consider subscribing to it if I ever have the means to do so. It is still a pity that I have so many friends from dramatically different time zones - I would prefer to play with the folks I know. But, we'll see. For now, I will stick to Skyrim and Oblivion and Morrowind and follow the progress of other people in the fandom.
Now that NDA has been lifted, I hope you will be making some fan art for the game too. :w00t:

Do you know if TESO is going to include each Daedric Lord's plane of Oblivion? Seeing Molag Bal In Coldharbour has piqued my interest.

Well, you definitely have to deal with other Daedric Lords in ESO, but I'm uncertain as to whether or not we'll get to see each of their planes of Oblivion. There's more I could say, but I really don't want to give out many spoilers ...

It's ok. I might not be playing a new Elder Scrolls game till TES:VI, since I prefer to play solo with RPGs. I enjoy staring at the scenery and sightseeing too much to commit to any active guild.

What about Maiq the Liar? He's telling his truths/lies again (most of his statements has a seed of truth, like about how someone was jealous of his fur). Or Sheogorath? I liked how he referenced TES:1 and TES:2. Well, my favorite was Dumbledore. :)

All I can say is, you can expect to see many familiar faces in ESO. ;)

Not Dumbledore though.

I meant the Prophet. He is Michael Gambon (AKA: Dumbledore). I usually call actors as the first name I saw them as (Lyris Titanborn will always be femshep to me. And Zac Efron will always be Troy Bolton). :)

Ahh, okay. XD

Yeah, when I heard Femshep was voicing Lyris I was super happy. She's the best voice actress!

I have an invite key from a friend, but considering that I only really want to use the character creation,  I don't think I'll end up downloading. I don't even know if I'll be able to, space and bandwith wise, anyway. It's a shame though, I really love character creation. I'ts great that you had fun though. :)

Well, the character creation is fun, and has a lot of choices, so I hope you get to try it out sometime. :) Anyways, thanks!

Not really a review, but whatever. I agree that ESO is beast and that my excitement rises the closer we get to launch! The only thing I'm worried about is forgetting what sunlight is...

I've already forgotten about sunlight. Please explain to me this thing.

Sunlight is this hot, yellow, burning substance that just tingles all over your flesh. Kinda like pee except from the sky, and it dries you off instead of wetting you.
