The Genii

Gift art for inspired by  'Word that Binds' story as described in her journal here:

Norroen's Made-Up WorldLike (I am sure) many of you lovely folks, I have a made-up universe of my own, where I started travelling when I was about 14 years old, and where I still pay an occasional visit. I prefer to keep it hidden, since it is 'ripped' off so many things I can't even begin to count (of course, back then I was not aware of most of the universes I allegedly copied... but experience shows that is no excuse). However, the lovely :icontheshieldofoak: has been very kind and supportive - so I thought, 'Why the hay not share the thing?'
 
This puppy is supposed to come accompanied by a map - I will most likely supply it later, as in its current state it is little more than a scribble I did in my first year at uni (i.e. at the age of 17). So, have a lore dump - and a horrid squiggly scribble that gives a very general idea of what is where.

I was inspired to draw this Genii after reading this snippet from her journal:

'The genii are an intimidating (yet oddly sexy, said my hormone-besieged early-puberty self) people: tall, dark-skinned, red-eyed, pointy-eared, sharp-toothed, and bearing from one to three horns on their heads. They have always possessed powerful magic, and there used to be a time when they ruled the Sunlit Lands, terrorizing the meek little tribes of nomadic humans. But one day, one of them, an old and embittered sage, became fed up with his people's hubris and cruelty, and set to work to create a curse that would rob them of their magic'

In any case, her story sounds wonderful and I hope she makes it a novel someday (hint hint)!
